What is Trompe L'Oeil?Trompe L'Oeil is the art of creating images that look 3D and fool you into thinking that art that you are looking at is the real thing. Trompe L'Oeil (pronounced "tromp loy") is French for "Trick the eye" . The artist paints using true perspective, and matching surroundings (sunlight, shadows, wall textures, colours etc) so that the art looks really 3D and blends in as part of the real surroundings. |
