Shirley Charlton

Shirley Charlton was born and grew up in Malawi, a small independent state in Central Africa.

She was educated in Zimbabwe and went to Technical Art College in Bulawayo.

To further her art experience, in 1989 Shirley undertook and now holds Graduate Diplomas from the Open College of Arts in London, as well as from the Paris School of Art in Cape Town.

From 1978 to 1987, she ran art classes for adults and children in Malawi.

As well as being a talented artist, her gift for teaching has led to several pupils exhibiting their own work.
