Here's a few photos of our intrepid
leader Jacqui...
This photo was taken just
outside
the fence of the Freeport Indonesia mine on a
day off from training class. Jacqui was very honoured as the tribe chief let her
hold his spears...

This is the
group of Indonesian trainees in Irian Jaya. During training all the classes from
Beginners to Advanced must be given in Bahasa
Indonesia, as not all the engineers and draftsmen
understand English. The training was
undertaken at 12,000 feet above sea level - not
much oxygen up there!
Our Intrepid CAD
trainer has also been very busy with one of her
favourite hobbies - the sport of triathlon. Not
just any triathlon (swim bike run) but the
ultra-endurance event or IronMan Triathlon. She
has just managed to complete her first IronMan
(known as The Ultimate Challenge) in
Forster-Tuncurry NSW in April 2001. (recently she completed her
second alongside her husband in 2003)
The event was a
3.8km swim, 180km bike ride followed by a 42km
marathon run... yes, all in one day! They call it
a "Hard Day at the Office". It took Jacqui 15
hours to complete after her bike broke and she
had to ride 140km of hills in one gear (instead of 18)
with no derailleur... then she had to hop off and run a
marathon!
Jacqueline is
also involved in another business - Art at Heart.
She has won one of the top 10 awards out of
300 entries
in the Brisbane Art Force Awards competition. Recently she was
also a finalist in the national magazine Landscape Painting
Challenge for Australian Artist magazine.
